ELEVEN DAYS!

I realize some of you have no idea what the title to this blog is referencing. It has been awhile, folks. From my last post to today, there have been some changes!

First, I no longer work for Texas Tech University. It was time to move on and seek a different place of employment. I have so many great memories and have met the most amazing students while working at Texas Tech. I love my school, and I will always cherish the adventures and great times working for Tech, however, after 4 years I was looking for something different. I currently work at Texas Exes, the official Ex-Students Association for The University of Texas. Yup, I’m working with the big dogs and burnt orange. It has been a different environment, but I can say that it is going well. I’ll always bleed Red and BlackĀ don’t you worry! I still get to have student interaction and work for a great organization that is creating excellent opportunities for incoming students. I’ll talk more about my position on a post later.

Second, 11 days. Ahhhh Eleven Days. ELEVEN DAYS until I become MRS. CARO! Luis and I will be getting married on May 28th. It seems like we were engaged forever ago, now 10 months later, we are about to become husband and wife. I remember the days where I cried, screamed, prayed and bargained with God to bring me a nice man that I can spend the rest of my life with. He definitely brought me a great one. Most of my favorite moments in my life have been spent with him. He’s the one I can’t wait to see when I come home and the one I love talking to about everything. We have been blessed to go on some fun adventures, see some really awesome music, see almost every sports Austin has to offer, and most importantly, get to know each other and who we are. We have built a bond and foundation to always try and keep trying to make our relationship great. We don’t always see eye to eye, but at the end of the day, we know we love each other, and we know we are both all in to make it work. So, in eleven days we will make this a permanent adventure. I.Can’t.Wait.

Third, is that we are getting married, we had to have some photos taken. That’s right, I finally had to be in front of the camera instead of behind it. NERVES. This was something I was dreading and putting off until the last minute. We chose a fantastic photographer names J.Masciana Photography. She’s been putting up with my difficult and annoying requests. Fun fact, she has the same degree (Photocommunications) as I have except she graduated from a school in California. Totally Random! That pretty much sealed the deal for me. She’s been so great to us. Below are some photos from our shoot. I will have to say after the shoot, I was a wreck, I didn’t want to see the photos. Then, she sent us the link to the photos, I ugly cried with how great they turned out. We are so in love with them. I could not have asked for better photos.

Fourth, Speaking of photos andĀ adventures… We decided for our honeymoon that we are going to SPAIN! We are going to spend 2 weeks exploring Spain. That means TONS of photos. TONS. I am super excited that I will be able to take my camera and photograph, photograph, photograph, and photograph some more. Luis and I love traveling together, and of course, you guys know I love photographing! When I moved into Luis’s house a little over a year ago, he had it remodeled before I moved in. We also purchased almost everything new because we were making it our home. So, when it came to figuring out registries for our wedding, we knew that we didn’t need a lot of things for the house. We decided on creating a HoneyFund to help make our dream vacation come to fruition. Hopefully, everyone will feel the same way about our idea!

I promise I will update more often! We went on an 8 day trip to California in September, and I’ll post those photos soon.

CampLEAD 2014

At the end of July, our office at Texas Tech University put on a leadership and development camp called CampLEAD. This was my second year attending this camp and this year I brought my camera to document. Last year, we had about 45 students attend. The camp was so successful and amazing that this year we had about 170 kids attend! The students were all rising seniors from their area. We had almost 800 applications for this camp, and it was fun being apart of the decision process. These kids will beĀ leaders one day. They are smart, hardworking, achievers who are at the top of their class. We had students from all over Texas and a few from New Mexico. Our regional center in Austin took about 34 students from Austin, and San Antonio and the students from the Valley flew with one of our excellent admissions counselors, Maryellen. We spent 4 days and three nights on campus doing different leadership activities. We stayed on campus in residence halls, toured the campus, swam in our leisure pool and even made a trip out to Spirit Ranch for some leadership and team exercises. I photographed a lot of the activities and hope you guys see the teamwork they built throughout this experience.

Driving up to Lubbock, the students were very quiet, mainly watched the movies we played or listened to their iPod. But on the way back, they were louudddddddddddd! They became a family. They were sad that they were leaving campus, but most importantly, they were sad to leave their new friends they met at camp. It’s so awesome to watch students who barely know each other build lasting friendships whom they didn’t even know four days prior.Ā  I hope that they choose Texas Tech as their school of choice, but wherever they go, they’ll be an asset to that institution. Below are some photos I grabbed from CampLEAD. Hope you guys enjoy them!

Three Guitaristas at Graham Central Station

Last Thursday night the Guitaristas tour featuring William Clark Green (Guns Up), Sean McConnell and Randy Rogers made an appearance at Graham Central Station in Pflugerville. It was an awesome night full of amazing singer songwriters! Including special appearances by Brian Keane and Josh Abbott. My goal for this set of photos is to show how much fun artists have together. This scene is such a great scene to be a part of and I love the “bromances” involved! It was such a fun time and I hope the photos show that!

I hope everyone has a very blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year! Remember to stop by and hopefully see my year in photos! šŸ™‚

Gary Clark Jr @ Stubb’s Legendary Bar-B-Q.

This past Friday I was able to mark another artist off my Photobucket list! I was introduced to Gary Clark Jr over a year ago and I immediately fell in love with him. His talent blows my mind! I’ve been trying to get to a show of his for a while but he’s been touring all over this world. He finally came back home to Austin this past weekend and played 2 sold out shows at Stubb’s Bar-B-Q. I was lucky enough to get a photo pass for his Friday show. I got there and realized there wasn’t a pit for us photographers, we were in mixed in with the 1400000000 general admission people. Yup, Princess Photostar was thrown a different element! I end up actually enjoying it even though I was stuck in one spot for the show. I met some cool photographers and was really grateful they took me under their wing to make sure I got some good shots. SEEEE we aren’t all competitive stuck up, aholes. :). I also go to go back to the days of only shooting the first 3 songs! Here are the photos I took Friday night! Let me know what you think and look back for another BUCKET LISTĀ band I photographed after Gary Clark Jr.

Texas Tech vs Baylor

This past Saturday I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph our game against Baylor. I was sooooo excited as I’ve wanted to go to Jerry’s World but not really a Cowboys fan. I had so much fun photographing on the field that I really wasn’t paying attention to the score. Probably a good thing. Oh well, I’m proud of my Red Raiders, they never stopped playing until the final seconds of the game. I know we will have great success with our team and I hope to get the opportunity to photograph a couple more games! Hope you guys enjoy these photos. I had an absolute blast photographing and will never forget this experience! Wreck Em Tech! #IAmARedRaider

Calm.

Happy Thursday! I wanted to share this photo as a sneak peek. I’m so busy with work and often times generally overwhelmed and so I’ve been makingĀ myself find ways of relaxation and calmness. I’ve been documentingĀ it as well and I thought I would share this photo with you until I’m finished editing. This photo when I look at it, makes all my stress just disappear. I think because it reminds me as a kid when I would lay in the grass or swing on my swing in the front yard, I would lean back, close my eyes, look into the sun and just breathe. Sometimes with all the stress, anxiety and other issues I deal with on a daily basis, breathing can be a difficult task. This picture helps me remember the fun times I had in my childhood. Hope you like it and look for the full album soon!
