CampLEAD 2014

At the end of July, our office at Texas Tech University put on a leadership and development camp called CampLEAD. This was my second year attending this camp and this year I brought my camera to document. Last year, we had about 45 students attend. The camp was so successful and amazing that this year we had about 170 kids attend! The students were all rising seniors from their area. We had almost 800 applications for this camp, and it was fun being apart of the decision process. These kids will be leaders one day. They are smart, hardworking, achievers who are at the top of their class. We had students from all over Texas and a few from New Mexico. Our regional center in Austin took about 34 students from Austin, and San Antonio and the students from the Valley flew with one of our excellent admissions counselors, Maryellen. We spent 4 days and three nights on campus doing different leadership activities. We stayed on campus in residence halls, toured the campus, swam in our leisure pool and even made a trip out to Spirit Ranch for some leadership and team exercises. I photographed a lot of the activities and hope you guys see the teamwork they built throughout this experience.

Driving up to Lubbock, the students were very quiet, mainly watched the movies we played or listened to their iPod. But on the way back, they were louudddddddddddd! They became a family. They were sad that they were leaving campus, but most importantly, they were sad to leave their new friends they met at camp. It’s so awesome to watch students who barely know each other build lasting friendships whom they didn’t even know four days prior.  I hope that they choose Texas Tech as their school of choice, but wherever they go, they’ll be an asset to that institution. Below are some photos I grabbed from CampLEAD. Hope you guys enjoy them!

Three Guitaristas at Graham Central Station

Last Thursday night the Guitaristas tour featuring William Clark Green (Guns Up), Sean McConnell and Randy Rogers made an appearance at Graham Central Station in Pflugerville. It was an awesome night full of amazing singer songwriters! Including special appearances by Brian Keane and Josh Abbott. My goal for this set of photos is to show how much fun artists have together. This scene is such a great scene to be a part of and I love the “bromances” involved! It was such a fun time and I hope the photos show that!

I hope everyone has a very blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year! Remember to stop by and hopefully see my year in photos! 🙂

Jonathan Tyler and The Northern Lights- Stubbs.

The night Gary Clark Jr played the outside stage, the party continued inside with Jonathan Tyler and The Northern Lights. Two of my favorite bands in ONE night? Hell yeah! Below are the photos from JTNL’s set. Hope you enjoy them!

Gary Clark Jr @ Stubb’s Legendary Bar-B-Q.

This past Friday I was able to mark another artist off my Photobucket list! I was introduced to Gary Clark Jr over a year ago and I immediately fell in love with him. His talent blows my mind! I’ve been trying to get to a show of his for a while but he’s been touring all over this world. He finally came back home to Austin this past weekend and played 2 sold out shows at Stubb’s Bar-B-Q. I was lucky enough to get a photo pass for his Friday show. I got there and realized there wasn’t a pit for us photographers, we were in mixed in with the 1400000000 general admission people. Yup, Princess Photostar was thrown a different element! I end up actually enjoying it even though I was stuck in one spot for the show. I met some cool photographers and was really grateful they took me under their wing to make sure I got some good shots. SEEEE we aren’t all competitive stuck up, aholes. :). I also go to go back to the days of only shooting the first 3 songs! Here are the photos I took Friday night! Let me know what you think and look back for another BUCKET LIST band I photographed after Gary Clark Jr.

Texas Tech vs Baylor

This past Saturday I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph our game against Baylor. I was sooooo excited as I’ve wanted to go to Jerry’s World but not really a Cowboys fan. I had so much fun photographing on the field that I really wasn’t paying attention to the score. Probably a good thing. Oh well, I’m proud of my Red Raiders, they never stopped playing until the final seconds of the game. I know we will have great success with our team and I hope to get the opportunity to photograph a couple more games! Hope you guys enjoy these photos. I had an absolute blast photographing and will never forget this experience! Wreck Em Tech! #IAmARedRaider

JABFEST ATX 2013

Hope everyone enjoyed the sneaks from yesterday! Here is the FULL album of photos! I’d like to apologize to Kyle Park, I accidentally erased all photos from his set. I’m horrified, I have never had that happen at a festival before. UGH. SO sorry. Please forgive me. Come back tomorrow and check for a sneak of Cody Bryan Band!

Every Day, I’m a Red Raider.

I’m pretty sure everyone knows two things about me: 1. I’m a music + concert photographer 2. I’m a Red Raider. I love Tech, I work for Tech and my heart + soul loves being a Red Raider. Yesterday, this Youtube video came out called “Every Day, I’m a Red Raider” highlighting some of our alumni and current students. This video has made me cry about 30 out of the 30 times that I’ve watched it. I can’t explain the amount of joy I have working for Texas Tech. Are the hours long? Does sitting in traffic annoy me? Yes, but for the most part, I love waking up to go to my office to promote Texas Tech and the things we do.

We are underdogs in Texas. We have two major universities that historically all students in Texas want to go to. But we are changing that, my office is changing that. Working for the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at Texas Tech, we are on the front lines to get students to apply and become admitted. We have days where we are spending 10-16 hours on the road visiting 3-5 schools spreading the word out about Tech. By October we are zombies and stay that way through May. We are like a broken record talking about our amazing Ed Whitacre College of Engineering, the #1 Personal Financial Planning program in the country, the only school in Texas to have an Undergraduate, Graduate, Law and Medical School on the same campus, and over 150 degree programs we offer. We like to talk about Kliff Kingsbury and the fact he was once in our shoes taking classes at Holden Hall, he walked across campus just like us to get to class, and he had the opportunity to play football at the Jones. We are proud of Tech and we want students to see our passion and feel the Red Raider pride that we encompass. Every Day, WE are Red Raiders.

A few months back, I had a great opportunity of driving some of our athletic coaches around San Antonio for meetings and an event that evening. Yes, I’m gonna brag and say I was driving KK around for most the day, during the car rides we started talking about the passion for Texas Tech that current and past students have. We are passionate, we are spirited, we strive for honor. Our soccer coach, Tom Stone, said it best, “If you went here, you get it.” I sat there for a minute digesting what he just said. It’s profound. It’s moving. It’s absolutely true. If you went here, you get it.

I wish my coworkers a successful year recruiting students and hope that we continue to grow as a University. If you ever get in a slump or too exhausted to make it through the day, I hope you watch the following video to recharge yourself. Because, Every Day YOU are a Red Raider.

LBK Bound + Greenfest Sneak

Hey friends! Today I get the pleasure of driving a few Austin area HS Seniors to campus. Super stoked to get to spend the rest of the work week in West Texas. <3. I think I’m going to bring my camera for fun and photograph campus and stuff as we tour. Before I left, I wanted to throw up a sneak of Greenfest 13 from Sunday.  Of course I chose to throw a sneak of this person on my blog, he’s my favorite Red Raider! Wreck Em and have a great rest of y’all week!

Texas Tech Visit

Last week I spent some time in Lubbock for work. I love going back to Lubbock and Texas Tech to relive my college memories. Most of y’all know I work for Texas Tech University in Austin. I love my job, I get to live in the greatest city and work for the best college in America. 🙂

Texas Tech was recently named the #6 Most UNDERRATED college in the country. I’m glad people are seeing the amazing education opportunities Texas Tech is providing for not only our students and alumni but also our faculty. I feel blessed to be at the position I’m at within Texas Tech University. Texas Tech recently hired a new president, Dr. Nellis, he’s coming from the University of Idaho and we had the opportunity to sit and discuss goals and plans for Texas Tech. Even better things to come! haha. Below are some photos I took on my iPhone from our time in LBK!

Only a few more weeks and I’ll be down in New Braunfels photographing Greenfest! Get your tickets and come say hello!

Rock On.
