So it’s been a year… it feels like 2018 lasted 5 years. I’m ready for it to go. 2018 wasn’t 100% terrible, but it wasn’t that awesome either. From company layoffs to illness to missing key family moments, I would rate this year about a 3.5 out of 10. I’m ready for a fresh start and ready to start the new year on a positive note!
This past year, I’ve neglected to put time and effort into seeing my family. Luis and I have both been so bogged down with work, that we’ve missed birthdays, vacations, holiday functions and just visiting and spending time with our family. That is something I’m not proud of. I love both of our families. I love our friends as well. We have built a pretty awesome home away from home family here in the Austin area, and even those were sacrificed. I feel pretty upset that I let what was going on around us get the best of me and not focus on what matters the most to me, friends and family.
As we close 2018 and head into 2019, below are some things I’m looking forward to.
I hope everyone has a wonderful NYE and would love to hear some of your 2018 highlights moving into 2019. We did have some fun in 2018, below is a photo from our trip to Jamaica. Ya man!
See you in 2019!

This past weekend, we had a normal Austin weekend. We spent Saturday afternoon on SOCO (South Congress for you non-Austinites) and had some drinks at this place called Docs. I’ve loved this place for a LONG time. It’s super chill, food is wonderful (try the fried pickles), and the beer is cold. After we hung out there for a few hours, we made a pit stop at my favorite shaved ice place in Austin: Sno-Beach. It is one of Austin’s original food trailers, and the ice is so smooth and tasty. I had the sugar-free coconut add cream, and Luis had blue bubble gum. Yum!
Sunday Luis wanted me to try this place in Round Rock called Greenhouse. I commonly refer to Round Rock as “Chain City.” He hates it when I call it that but Round Rock is different from Austin, Austin thrives on mom and pop, local, anti-chain atmospheres and every chain created lives in Round Rock. So, at first I was a little skeptical when he said let’s go here, but he had me a local craft organic food. So we went Sunday morning and holy moly, this place is AMAZING. First off when I walked into the door, I didn’t think I was in Round Rock, I thought I we were visiting a cute little farmhouse cafe in Fredericksburg or Boerne. The decor was the cutest ever. Fresh flowers in mason jars, all white tables, the cutest light fixture I’ve ever seen and then I looked at the menu. Affordable plates where everything is made with the freshest ingredients and they are all from Texas. That’s right, they support TEXAS. The food was delicious, and the wait staff and employees were super kind. Check this little gem out if you are ever in the Round Rock/Austin area.
Saturday we found out the Texas Stars were in the playoffs, that is our local minor league hockey team. I told Luis that I’ve never been to a hockey game and being the sweet guy he is, we made plans to go! I have to say I am now a hockey fan! It was sooooooo much fun. They won the game 7-1 and are now in the finals!! Woohooo! I think we are going to go this weekend to another game, I need to find a hockey jersey and sport it. Hahaha. Now, I just have to figure out how I can become a hockey photographer, that would be SO cool!
I hope everyone had a fun week like we did! Check back for some music photos!
