I have great news! …. over a month later.

This summer has been absolutely insanely busy! This summer was full of family time and work. We spent A LOT of time in Abilene. I have spent even more time working in Lubbock this summer.

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you already know the exciting news. If not, this is the purpose of today’s blog….

On July 4th, Luis asked me to marry him! That’s right, I’m ENGAGED! He totally surprised me during a fireworks show. My dreams and prayers came true. We are getting married May 28, 2016, in Georgetown, TX. We made our wedding website on The Knot and our Honeymoon/Registry on Honey Fund. Below are links to these sites so you can see and read the whole story. Get ready for teasers and posts about our upcoming wedding! 🙂

Jonathan Tyler and The Northern Lights- Stubbs.

The night Gary Clark Jr played the outside stage, the party continued inside with Jonathan Tyler and The Northern Lights. Two of my favorite bands in ONE night? Hell yeah! Below are the photos from JTNL’s set. Hope you enjoy them!

Gary Clark Jr @ Stubb’s Legendary Bar-B-Q.

This past Friday I was able to mark another artist off my Photobucket list! I was introduced to Gary Clark Jr over a year ago and I immediately fell in love with him. His talent blows my mind! I’ve been trying to get to a show of his for a while but he’s been touring all over this world. He finally came back home to Austin this past weekend and played 2 sold out shows at Stubb’s Bar-B-Q. I was lucky enough to get a photo pass for his Friday show. I got there and realized there wasn’t a pit for us photographers, we were in mixed in with the 1400000000 general admission people. Yup, Princess Photostar was thrown a different element! I end up actually enjoying it even though I was stuck in one spot for the show. I met some cool photographers and was really grateful they took me under their wing to make sure I got some good shots. SEEEE we aren’t all competitive stuck up, aholes. :). I also go to go back to the days of only shooting the first 3 songs! Here are the photos I took Friday night! Let me know what you think and look back for another BUCKET LIST band I photographed after Gary Clark Jr.

Happy Thursday! I wanted to share this photo as a sneak peek. I’m so busy with work and often times generally overwhelmed and so I’ve been making myself find ways of relaxation and calmness. I’ve been documenting it as well and I thought I would share this photo with you until I’m finished editing. This photo when I look at it, makes all my stress just disappear. I think because it reminds me as a kid when I would lay in the grass or swing on my swing in the front yard, I would lean back, close my eyes, look into the sun and just breathe. Sometimes with all the stress, anxiety and other issues I deal with on a daily basis, breathing can be a difficult task. This picture helps me remember the fun times I had in my childhood. Hope you like it and look for the full album soon!

P.S. Look for me on the sidelines at the Texas Tech vs Baylor game! I’ll be the one with a camera standing next to Kliff the whole time 😉 hahahahahaha. JJ. But, I really will be on the sidelines photographing the game, I apologize in advance for the amount of Instagram photos that will be on your feed. I have never been to Cowboys…errr… AT&T stadium, so I’m just a WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE bit excited! WRECK BAYLOR!

Cody Bryan Band @ The Saxon.

About a month or so ago I was visiting my hometown and listening to the best Texas/Red Dirt Radio station, KKCN 130.1, when Ben Ryan played this song that caught my attention. The song was called “If I’m Going Nowhere“, it was catchy and I liked it.  I’ve been looking for a new band to obsess over so bands like Whiskey Myers and The Cadillac 3 won’t serve me with a restraining order for following them around, photographing their sets, and jamming to their music all day everyday. Also, most of y’all know B. Burke ditched me to follow his dreams in Nashville. Really, come on!? 🙂 (Love you, B and show them how music is made!)

A few weeks later for 4th of July my Mum and I decided to drive out to Salt Lick for some BBQ. They had this band loading out about to play outside and entertain the masses waiting to eat some delicious carnivorous treats. They set up and started to play this song where I knew the words and finally it hit me, it’s the song from Kickin’ Country! I remember I heard it again while I was at work (I broadcast them in my office, I might as well be their promotions coordinator, only if I can stay in Austin ;)) and was like, “dang, I love this song.” Anyways, we ended up staying a while listening to their set. My mom won a koozie and cd. I bought a shirt (they are only $10, y’all should buy one). Go figure I am the one that buys the merch. 🙂

We jammed to the cd on the way back to South Dallas, AKA my apartment by Lake Travis, and really liked their record. My friend Philip (#pqm) and I were talking about music one night and I mentioned this new band that I really liked that I wanted to see again and I told him who it was, turns out he knew the band! We found out that they were playing at The Saxon in a couple of weeks so we planned on attending. So glad I did, I really like these guys. I think they have a lot of potential of becoming a well known band, the sorority girls would eat them up. {hint hint my management + promoter friends… you can thank me later.} If you would like a little clarity of their sound, imagine a collaboration between Brian Burke (my musical soul mate and yes I referenced him twice in the blog, you can contact the complaint department if you need feel the need), Hudson Moore (TX version of John Mayer) and Curtis Grimes (Hollywood Curt). Boom, there’s Cody Bryan. Minds blown. Seriously, check them out and go to a show. They seem to be playing a lot at The Salt Lick on the weekends so go support both of them and like The Cody Bryan Band on Facebook.

I snapped a few photos at the show, not the ideal lighting situation… don’t judge. 😉 Have a great weekend and Wreck Em! Also, not sure why I bolded words throughout the blog, just embrace it.

Texas Drought + The Salt Lick

Working for Tech, I’m in the car almost daily driving to schools. My favorite trips at the ones where I can take back roads and explore more of the country side of Central Texas. A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of driving to Wimberly, TX for a high school visit. This drive is so awesome, I love going to this school because it reminds me of my highschool. There is this amazing spot I’ve found right off the road, that has a creek where you can sit on the creek bank and soak in God’s glory. I look forward to this school every semester because of this spot. Unfortunately, we are in a horrific drought right now in Texas. When I showed up to the spot after my school visit, I was shocked when I found my treasured spot almost dry. Gone were the days of me stopping by for a quick 10-15 minute break to put my feet in the water and listen to the sound of rushing water coming from the waterfall. I brought my camera along with me hoping to capture the glory of this spot, but instead here are some photos to show the extreme drought we are going through.

After my discovery, I decided to stop at one of the best places in Texas to grab some barbecue for my coworkers called: The Salt Lick. They are kind of a big deal….This is their original location, which is out in the middle of nowhere and I absolutely love the atmosphere. It’s cash only, byob and has the perrrrrfect company to indulge in some tasty barbecue. They let me go back and photograph their infamous pit with tons of meaty delights. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as my coworkers and I enjoyed eating their delicious barbecue! This is one of the places you need to check off your Texas bucket list!

love it. live it. capture it.
