Sounds Under Radio

A couple of days ago, my friend Meshawn contacted me to see if I would go with her to the world famous Stubbs Barbeque to watch a band she was interviewing (for Study Breaks Magazine) perform live. I got to sit in as she interviewed the lead singer of Sounds Under Radio, Lang Freeman. It was awesome sitting there and listening to him answer the questions and it was very apparent that this band was in it for the music and not the fame. Their sound is wicked cool, yes I said wicked cool. After sitting in on the interview I couldn’t wait for them to play. Meshawn and I ate some awesome chicken and mac and cheese- a token meal in Texas I might add, waiting in anticipation for the shows to start. Before Sounds Under Radio took the stage, 3 bands opened for them. The first one was named The Pretty Reckless, which I have to say is a pretty killer name for a band. The front WOMAN of the band is from the show Gossip Girl, I’m sure tons of you guys know the character Jenny Humphrey, well she is pretty cool and if Lang didn’t inform us of who she was I would have never guessed it! She looked so different! After The Pretty Reckless, a band from Houston named The Last Place You Look, which is also a clever name, rocked the stage. The lead singer sounded like Dane Cook but looked like Dave Attel, pretty funny. After them another hometown Austin band, Goodnight Goddess took the stage. I love their sound and its like hardcore riffs with soft melodies. It’s hella good. Then the closer came on, Sounds Under Radio and they rocked the house!! Tons of music love was going on and it just ended in awesomeness! 🙂 They are actually going to be in Lubbock tonight, so if you are in the area go and check them out!
