Yummy treat!

One of my favorite things to do is go to the grocery store and peruse around looking for something fun to photograph. I love setting up and stylizing a simple dessert or drink shot. I have figured out that I am like my mom in the way that she loves buying dishes/plates/bowls/cups/etc and presenting our dinners and get togethers in a fun, stylish way. I found these adorable plates at the grocery store and I knew I had to get them, even better for me they were 1/2 off! It was like they were destined to be bought by me! I bought these plates a couple of months ago and was going to wait until I found the perfect little dessert to have a fun little photoshoot! I’ll go ahead and confess that I’m not the greatest food photographer, it is actually more of a hobby rather than me trying to become the Martha Stewart of food photography.  I just like to have a little fun with setting up shots that pass the time by! Other than the plates, I also bought this super cool, awesome new flash. It’s the Canon 580 exII, thanks mom and dad! So I’ve been wanting to test it out and see what I can do with it! Anyways, back to my yummy treat! I found this chocolately drizzley white chocolate shaving thing at a local supermarket and decided that would be great to photograph on my fun dessert plates! So without further ado, here are the photos I came up with! Major props to the designer/creator of these plates… they are too fun! Technically what I used for this shoot was my 580 exII flash and I used a grey card to bounce the light away from the plate surface so it wouldn’t be too specular. Grey cards can come in handy when you least expect it! Enjoy folks!

Love it, Live it, Capture it!
